• Abilities and Strengths

  Magical items:
  
  - His smile. In his opinion, anyway.
  
  Natural Abilities/Powers:
  
  - Longevity: He will survive until he is killed by sickness or magic or meteor/sword/arrowintheknee. Immortal, but not incapable of death.
  
  *He reserves an advanced ability to heal, but it takes hours or days, depending solely on wound severity, stamina, and rest. A lengthy healing session will leave him very weak and vulnerable. He cannot heal others.
  
  - Amphibious: Capable of lung or gill breathing. And blowing bubbles. That's totally an ability.
  
  - Siren Scream: A deafening shriek that, starting low-pitched, combines a shrill whinny with a piercing human yell. It's like a fire alarm from hell and capable of vibrating glass into shattering if it reaches full frequency. Requires stamina, time, and concentration to complete.
  
  *A quieter version of this can be used to communicate under water, much like dolphins and whales
  
  Preps: 1 post (if used as a sound, not an attack), 2 posts (if used to cry for help from a distance, light attack), 3-4 posts (as a forceful attack, breaking glass, making people's ears ring)
  
  - Shape-shifting: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, but he could be a horse, monster, man, or any in-between mix of these.
  
  Preps: 2-3 posts, longer if injured or winded
  
  - Illusion: Capable of making others see things in regards to his appearance ONLY. A strong will can allow you to see and feel through these masks even if you are a mere human/furre. If he is tired or hurt, his illusions will weaken and fail more frequently.
  
  * Illusions are visual only and can be seen through if the viewer is strong-willed/knows what they're looking at. Not advised if he's wearing clothes as an illusion. Unless you're into that. Similarly, if he loses enough of his concentration due to distraction or injury, his illusions will fall apart.
  
  Preps: 1 post (if he's been using an illusion for a while and you approach him afterward), 2 posts (any other circumstance)
  
  - Omnomnom: His jaw can dislocate to some degree, allowing him to swallow large objects for digestion if he's too furious or lazy to chew.
  
  - Milk-souring Horse Fart: With the force of a small (See: Non-existent) hurricane, the Kelpie's butt can emit a toxic (unpleasant) gas capable of paralyzing (offending) small children and animals within a five foot radius of the firing zone. Ranging from stealthy to proud, these emissions can be used to offend, defend, warn others of danger, or simply relieve the creature who produces them.
  
  * Despite their varied levels of severity, it is strongly advised that the Kelpie not be fed anything outside of its usual diet as one (supposed) death has been reported after extended exposure to the resulting fumes.
  
  Preps: Honestly, your character should probably be doing the preparing.

• Quirks & Weaknesses

  Natural Weaknesses:
  
  - Fire: Kelpie no like. Though it can't do much more damage than it would to a normal person, this Kelpie seems to have a strong aversion to flames and can be scared away if they are used properly.
  
  - Bridle/Collar/Tether: If you are able to rope this horse, it belongs to you. Collaring Caerd while he is a human will not enslave him, but it will keep him from changing forms (because the moment he does, you own him) and from removing the collar himself.
  
  You must capture him while he is a beast or a white horse either with a classic bridle, horse's reigns and bit, or some other (magically-charged) means of restraint. Once this is done, he will be enslaved to you, capable of transforming on command and following every instruction with minimal defiance.
  
  While enslaved, he cannot beg others to release him through speech, only body language, and will remain in your custody even after you die. The spell is broken if the tethers are removed (he cannot do this himself).
  
  Preps: 1-2 posts, the first being an attempt to escape and the second being resignation to whoever has captured him.
  
  - Merely Human: While in human form, Caerd is at his most vulnerable. You could cut his throat with a shaving razor and he'd die right quick. He must be a human in the company of others lest he be hunted for the reputation of his kin - this makes him both safer and in danger as it is his weakest state.
  
  Quirks:
  
  - Sweet Tooth: If you're about to be attacked or killed by a hungry Kelpie, try offering him something sugary or chewy. I'm serious, it may actually work.
  
  - Fetch: Same situation? Throw something. He will usually lose interest in you and tromp after whatever it was out of curiosity. This may fail if he is enraged or starving.
  
  - Flirt: For all his flirtatious behavior, it seems Caerd has no desire to settle down. In fact, if he becomes too attached to someone, he may forcefully try to end the friendship for reasons he has yet to come forth with.
  
  - Wild Rover: For similar reasons, he tends to change locale every few years, claiming to have wanderlust, but perhaps having more personal reasons for doing so.
  
  - Mustard: Do you have something you'd rather a Kelpie not eat? Put mustard on it. Rub it all over your face. Be sure to put mustard on all of your friends today! He hates it.
